When I was young, apart from cafés serving coffee and pastries in spring and summer, there were virtually no outdoor seatings at all. This was due to the very hard Swedish legislation on alcohol. Nowadays things has radically changed. Wherever there is space enough outside a café or a restaurant, you'll find it fit up with some chairs and tables. And where there is a lot of space available, restaurants will provide a large outdoor section for their guests.

The Outdoor Seatings project was shot in June and July 2017, during lunch time (11.30 am to 2.30 pm) in central Uppsala (see map). The project was inspired by Ed Ruscha's groundbreaking artist's book Twentysix Gasoline Stations
